In the Beginning…

In the darkness
That crawls like an infant
Desperate to find his crib
Solitude - hides above the treetops

In a single moment, a haze weaves a web
And the Now is gone
And at the same time
It never was

The alcoholic shakes the sweat from the tired bottle
Praying for one last chance to die before he must live
The daffodil melts in the snow
Spending its final breath asking why

Raise your hands and speak in tongues
Make love to the virgin kneeling next to you
These stained-glass, hallowed halls echo hypocrisy
While the sacred and the holy soar above

Soar above like an eagle unattached
To the scorched earth below
It is not the past that breathes life
But the road ahead, of wonder, of spearmint dreams

And as a line lives inside a square
And a square lives inside a sphere
Our three dimensions live inside a fourth
And that fourth dimension can only be found within ourselves

In the light
That hides in plain sight
The sun, the moon, the stars, the beating heart of young love
Mystery – shines above the treetops
