Yellow-Haired Girl

The big, white cloud woke up with a smile,
Took a deep breath,
Relieved some morning mist -
Ahhhhhh!

Sweet rain lathered the yellow-haired girl
In the yellow sun-dress,
Riding on her daddy's shoulders running down the beach
Searching for shelter
Where time has no home.

Waves filled with aqua unicorns splashed around them,
Sand castles opened their gates.
The little girl all giggles, her dad aware and
Unaware of just trying to stay stuck
In a poem.

But living in a poem is like trying to hold onto a cloud.
And hugging a cloud is more real than
A five-year old yellow-haired girl
Staying five years old
Forever.
