The Door

After 35 years I shut the door and walked away.
I decided I would never go back in there again.
With a backpack holding all my worldly possessions I continued to walk.
I walked for months on end sleeping wherever I could find a safe place to rest.
One day I found myself in the forest following a path by the river.
I came upon a wooden cabin with beautiful pink and purple flowers.
The flowers were ten feet thick surrounding the home that I knew was my future.
I knocked on the door. There was no answer. The door was unlocked but I couldn't open it.
As hard as I tried, it wouldn't budge.
I sat down and cried.
Then, I stood up again and I talked directly to the door, and I said, “I'm ready”.
The door opened and I walked in.
