Finger Painting

“Thank you, thank you.
It's so beautiful,” said the mother to her son.
As she hung the finger painting of stick figures and flowers,
On the refrigerator door.
A little boy handing his mommy a bouquet.

In the other room, Fox news reporting on stick figures ruining society.
With there one dimensional attitude and sharp angles,
Destroying art class, not like when they were kids.

When's the last time someone on a panel, any panel,
Created anything besides criticism?

Teddy Roosevelt loved a good stick figure,
as long as it was in the arena and not watching and plodding to slither through the cracks,
as some lines are apt to do.

Some lines only know how to split,
No ability to connect, no ability to form a Mona Lisa smile.

“Mommy, I love you,” said the boy.
